Provide peer support to parents and assists them to successfully engage with the program, services, and staff. Assist family by helping the parents/caregivers identify their needs, help role model new strategies, and promote the family’s success Use personal and professional life experiences to establish credibility and infuse hope for a better future, to demonstrate unconditional acceptance, and to assist with problem solving. Serve as a “values speaker”, specifically, but not limited to providing a parent’s perspective in the routine operations and development of the program. Serves as a member of a team to address needs of the clients and families. Maintain client services at a standard as required. Maintain proper documentation and within appropriate time frame.
Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED. Is/was involved in one of the referring departments (DCFS, Probation or DMH). Experience and perspective of a parent/caregiver of child with complex needs involving mental health, child protective, or probation services. Diplomacy in resolving conflicts and integrating divergent perspectives and able to handle escalated situations. Able to work constructively as a member of a team represent core/agency/program values and principles in a variety of settings. Must be able to communicate thought and ideas clearly both orally and written in English and Spanish. Able to work evening and weekend hours as required. Must have reliable transportation, a valid CA driver’s license, proof of auto insurance, and acceptable driving record.
Salary: $22 - $25/hour
