Serving the Multi-Generational Needs of Individuals and Families
A Tradition of Community Service
Alma Family Services is dedicated to advancing the quality of life of families and individuals coping with a range of needs including significant emotional difficulties, substance abuse and/or developmental challenges.
- By providing a range of quality community integrated multilingual and multicultural services including early intervention and prevention.
- By supporting empowerment at the individual, group and community level to effectively reduce the barriers which negatively impact their lives.
- By advocating for the rights and responsibilities of families and individuals with special needs.
- By working with businesses, civic associations, and local, state and federal officials to increase knowledge of the abilities and contributions of individuals with special needs.
Some of the Needs We Serve
Alma provides a wide range of mental health counseling and support to children, adolescents, adults and their families who are experiencing significant emotional problems.
Developmental Disabilites include mental retardation (intellectual disabilities), cerebral palsy, epilepsy, and autism, in addition to conditions closely related to mental retardation (intellectual disabilities) or requiring similar treatment. These conditions must originate before age eighteen (18), continue, or be expected to continue indefinitely, and constitute a substantial handicap.
OTHER YOUTH DEVELOPMENT AND FAMILY NEEDS
Focusing on family generational needs, Alma provides a Preschool Center, Socialization Program, Family and Peer Support groups, juvenile justice prevention and intervention programs and varied Aquatic Programs designed for the special needs of infants to seniors.
